Slowly feed the safety pin with the elastic into the waistband until you reach the other side.

Diy circle skirt with elastic waistband. Pull both ends out and overlap the elastic by one inch, sew together with a zig zag stitch. Grab a big piece of paper (i used wrapping paper), and draw your inner circle as a quarter circle… Measure and mark the elastic and the skirt into fourths, and pin onto the underside of the skirt.

Let’s sew the elastic waistband. Connect the ends of the waistband to one another, so that the right side is on the right side, stitch it but you leave the hole for the elastic. It should be large enough to stretch over your hips, but small enough that it stays put on your waist.

Bring the folded guide line to the waist seam. After cutting it out, sew it closed. Leave an opening for the elastic to pass through on one end.

You may subtract/add more or less, depending on how comfortable you feel. Cut out your elastic, subtracting about 2 from your waist measurement. Cut the fabric into 2 panels, for the front and for the back of the skirt.

Circle skirt pattern & tutorial. Use marking chalk to mark 4 equal sections on the waistline of your tulle circle. Join the elastic with a ¼” overlap zig zag stitch.

Attach elastic to the waist, sewn with a zig zag stitch. Fan the seam out and sew down each side. Fold the seams of the top circle by about.25 or.5 inches.

At the waist, then for the skirt length, measure from waist down, adding seam allowance for elastic waist, for the hem and for the side seams. (front, back, and sides) 17. Thread the elastic through the waistband using a safety pin to guide it through.

Keep pinning in the way to ensure an even distribution of the waistband. For shiggles, let’s say our example waistband is 40″ wide. Fold the waistband to half and press it.

Starting at the folded corner, use a ruler to measure and mark the radius in. Next, if you prefer, serge each seam edge separately to seal off the raw edges. The elastic would be 21 inches (53 cm) if you're making the kid's skirt, for instance.

Then, pin the part of the waistband that is halfway between the two pins you just placed. Sew the elastic ends together. Fold the waistband up and over the front of the skirt.

(if adding a liner, place the sewn lining in the skirt before pinning and attaching the elastic.) Attach the waistband spread out your skirt so the entire circle is visible. (front, back, and sides) 16.

Skirt elastic waistband 2 with right sides together stitch the two waistband pieces together at both ends. The width should be a little bigger than the width of your elastic. Turn the fabric inside out and roll the waist line down twice and pin in place.

Pin in place and create a finishing seam while leaving 2 inches for an opening for your elastic. Kaysi from craftkeepsmesane blog gives instructions to make this very feminine circle skirt with tulle frill. Cut a waistband out of stretchy fabric or stretch lace.

Then, pin the part of the waistband across from that pin. 5 attach the waistband to your circle skirt. Use 1” knit elastic, and determine the length using this formula:

Sew along the bottom edge and leave a space open for elastic. Do not serge the seam together since you’re going to be fanning it out. This ideal skirt for a little one is reversible and uses an elastic casing at the waist.

Pierce the elastic twice with the needle end of the large safety pin and close it. Pin the right side of the waistband to the right side of the skirt’s waist and sew them together with a 1/4”. Wiggle out of the elastic and sew it together at that point.

Sew a 1/4” guide line from the raw edge of the waistband and press under. With the elastic folded in half, sew it together, using a 1/2 inch seam allowance: Measure the skirt length (from waist down to where you want the skirt to fall) and add 2″ seam allowance.

Then, add 1 inch (2.5 cm) and cut the elastic. Trim the ends to 1/2″ long, fold the ends down, pin in place, and sew those down to flatten them. Sew the panels at the sides, right sides together.

Start by pinning one edge to the circle skirt and then pin the opposite edge. Edgestitch along the fold leaving about 2” open to insert the elastic. Get out 1 inch (2.5 cm) wide knit elastic and unravel it so the elastic is as long as your original waist measurement.

Fold the satin fabric in half, then in half again. Put a safety pin on the end of your elastic. With right sides together, stitch the skirt front and skirt back at the side seams.

Pin your elastic to your skirt, matching up your 4 even points. Align the waistband and the skirt together using the pins as a guide. Then, go ahead and fold and iron the hem of the second circle.

Fold the remaining fabric under the inside of the band giving it a clean finish. Mark 4 even points along the elastic. Measure your body as mentioned above:

Measure two inches to allow the elastic to fit in the band. The awesome thing about using elastic just on the back of the skirt is that you still have a flat front waistband, which is a touch more. We will do this so that we stitch 1.5 cm, leave 2 cm unstitched and then until the end stitch.

Do the same with the inside edge of your waistband. The stitch is sewn 1 cm from the edge. Slide the elastic through the waistband.

Feed the elastic through the waist. And sew up the hole! Pin the other end of the elastic to the skirt edge.

Cut a piece of elastic so it's 1 inch (2.5 cm) longer than your waist. Then attach the elastic all around the circumference, as shown.
